Canning and Home Preserving
Today, more West Virginians than ever fall prey to diabetes, obesity and heart disease. These conditions stem from a diet high in fats, sugars and calories. Many people turn to homegrown fruits and vegetables as well as organic foods to get back control of ingredients in food.
The Kanawha County WVU Extension Service will be offering food preservation classes on August 4 and 12 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Participants learn how to provide safe, high-quality products using the latest research on food preservation. The food preservation methods covered on August 4 include boiling water bath canning, and pressure canning. On August 12, the focus will be preparation and preservation of jams and jellies.
Join us at the Kanawha County WVU Extension Service kitchen for either class to learn new skills or strengthen your knowledge with exciting tips and tricks.
