Reminder: All business and CE meetings will be held at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore on the second Tuesday of each month unless otherwise scheduled.
The KCMGA Board Meetings for 2016 will be held on the last Monday of the month.

September’s meeting is a volunteer meeting. We will not meet at ReStore but instead we will be working on Day to Serve to help revamp Sojourners garden. The idea of the garden is to add perennials and vegetables to beautify the residence and also educate the residents.
A committee leader and volunteers will be needed up to and during that day. If interested, please contact Carolee at email@example.com

This meeting will be held on November 1 instead of November 8 due to Election Day. We will vote on our new bylaws at that time. The bylaw revisions will be coming via email blast in October so keep your eyes open!

Wherever your garden grows on this planet, you will find a wealth of new ideas at the 2017 International Master Gardener Conference (IMGC) in Portland, Oregon, July 10-14, 2017
Presented by Oregon State University Extension Service and Oregon Master Gardeners™, the five-day conference will kick off Monday evening with a reception. Conference program features three keynote speakers (Dan Hinkley, Renee Shepherd, and John Marzluff), daily breakout sessions, and a trade show.
Regional “mixers” will facilitate networking with other attendees.
Tours include trips to area gardens, vineyards, urban farms, and natural scenic areas. Oregon enjoys tax-free shopping. You will find a multitude of shopping possibilities in downtown Portland and in the many diverse city neighborhoods.
The conference is scheduled for the Oregon Convention Center in Portland near the east banks of the Willamette River. Three conference hotels all are within short, 10-15 minute walk.
Key dates for the 2017 IMGC:
Search for Excellence nominations due August 1, 2016;
Early bird registration: October 10, 2016 through January 13, 2017;
Hotel code release: October 10, 2016.

At the July 2012 meeting, Randy Rader was awarded Master Gardener of the Year by WVU Extension Agent John Porter. Randy is current president of the Kanawha County Master Gardeners Association.
At the June 2011 meeting, Bill Shanklin was awarded Master Gardener of the Year by WVU Extension Agent John Porter.
